(33,643 posts)It's pretty damn nice here the rest of the time.
Now ... we get no cool 'fall effects', and spring is kinda unexciting too ... but objectively the weather is quite nice.

(1,048 posts)Hard to keep up with garden watering during this stretch of really hot and dry weather. Front yard is brown - don't care so I don't water it. Backyard still kind of green - more shade. Between the watering and the AC, a couple of my utility bills are going to be NASTY. But I am grateful for the AC, the water, and the ability to pay for them. I have to be frugal in other areas but that's OK. I find peace and joy in my garden, my meals abound with fresh produce, and because there is enough for freezing and canning, I will be enjoying "my local" produce this winter. Go Bucks!

(34,773 posts)Were going to have some nasty utility bills here, too. Mr. O does a great job keeping the garden watered so we have fresh, organic, veggies. My flowers, I think, are almost dead. They kind of just disintegrated from the heat ... we have a small-ish house on 3 acres so its our little refuge.

The good thing the tomatoes are ripening nothing like an Ohio homegrown tomato.

(36,712 posts)though. Winters are like 10 years apart now.
Winters nowadays are pretty much just a long, endless, stretch of cold, gray, drizzle. Not much picture-postcard pretty white snow and bright blue sky any more. Unless its May .... lol

(36,712 posts)I was a student in an apartment at Kent State back then. Fun times! The wind was so strong it blew out the picture window in the apartment across the courtyard. Buildings were so flimsy, the wind blew a fine coating of snow INSIDE my bedroom through the cracks in between the window and the wall. Snow up to the top of highway overpasses ... truckers up on the tops of their rigs, stranded.... oh gosh dont get me started.
