Protesters rally at Capitol in support of bill proposed in Oklahoma Legislature that would consider abortion a homicide
OKLAHOMA CITY Waving handmade signs and chanting, hundreds of people flooded the Capitol on Tuesday in support of proposed legislation that would make abortion illegal in Oklahoma.
Among them were Oklahoma-based Free the States. The pro-life group is seeking a hearing on Senate Bill 13 crafted by Sen. Joseph Silk, R-Broken Bow. The measure would make abortion a homicide.
The bill has been assigned to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, chaired by Sen. Jason Smalley, R-Stroud.
Smalley, who is anti-abortion, said he had some problems with the language of the bill. Silk had agreed to make some changes, Smalley said.
