Dick Sims, a veteran Tulsa Sound keyboardist and onetime Eric Clapton sideman who contributed to some of the rock great's biggest hits, died Thursday in Tulsa of complications from cancer, family members said.

He was 60.

A Memorial High School graduate, Sims toured and recorded with Clapton from 1974 through the early 1980s. He is remembered for his distinctive keyboard work on such Clapton hits as "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Wonderful Tonight."
