Anarchists seem to do well in Oregon.

Every time there is a protest in Portland or Eugene, stuff gets destroyed. I'm not sure why so many anarchists live there, but Oregon can't have any kind of political demonstration without anarchists injecting violence and destruction. If I were a cynical person, I might conclude that anarchists were paid to do what they do as some kind of red herring.

And I think that leads to people from other parts of the US to be attracted. Both those who share their views and those that don’t. But most of Oregon outside a couple cities is pretty conservative.

In the Willamette Valley where most Oregonians live, people trend slightly left,
with a tolerant Libertarian bent. Outside of that region, there are many more
farmers, ranchers, loggers and religious conservatives. Conservative and Trumpy,
to say the least, but they are loud and not particularly large in number.

as anarchists, it doesn't change the actual definition of the word. It is like changing "people standing up to fascists" as "antifa," and then labeling antifa as terrorists.

anarchism

: a political theory holding all forms of governmental authority to be unnecessary and undesirable and advocating a society based on voluntary cooperation and free association of individuals and groups

The anarchists believe they are working toward what they consider anarchy. I understand they don't live up to the theoretical principles of anarchy. We know them as anarchists because that's what they call themselves. Same idea applies to Christians, Republicans, etc.

Stalinists and copycat authoritarians are called "Communist." Oooh, communist bad, rather than Stalinist, Fascist, authoritarian bad. This leads to finding different words to express the same, idea. If cooperation and sharing is involved, call it communism, and it is bad by default.
