Second largest state employee union ratifies four-year contract with guaranteed raises every year
The second largest of the state government employee unions has ratified the terms of a contract that provides at least one pay raise a year in each of its four-year life.
When combined, those seven raises total 16.75 percent or nearly 18 percent when compounded.
SEIU Local 668, which represents about 10,000 commonwealth employees, reported 99 percent of its members voted to accept the contract and nearly 98 percent of supervisors voted in favor of the accompanying memorandum of understanding that covers them.
This news comes on the heels of last weeks announcement that members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 13, the largest of the state government employee unions representing about 33,500 employees, and the United Food & Commercial International Local 1776 had ratified their own four-year labor agreements with the commonwealth.
