NO central place to sign up for Covid-19 vaccine?

I understand there is a shortage, but have not found any way to get on any type of list even to receive information when vaccines are available. I contacted my primary care physician and was informed they will not be getting the vaccines to try a pharmacy. I used the map on the PA Gov website and none of the links proved successful. Both my wife and I are eligible but unable to find any way to get on a waiting list.

It would be easier if the Pa government provided a central place to sign up, but I read they can not do that because they lack the funds. If true, people should encourage lawmakers allocate the needed money, stopping Covid-19 should be the number one priority.

I'd try the county website for information.

Where I am in Beaver County, the local small healthcare system (not AHN or UPMC) just began registering people on Friday afternoon. They don't have enough doses for everyone who signed up, but at least we are in line.

The closest thing we have found to actually getting on a list is signing up for Covid-19 updates from UPMC.

what with Harrisburg being there. Signing up with UPMC is probably the smartest thing given their size and reach now.

Wolf said at this presser yesterday that he's considering a central state registry, but that's all. Don't know why a central registry wasn't the first plan, but maybe the major delay issues with the unemployment registration process factored in the decision to push actual vaccinations down to "local control".

I read an article that claimed the primary reason PA does not have central registration is finacial, they did not/do not have the budget for the support the program

is pretty skeletal - at least based on my experience. There aren't even 800 numbers you can call, it's all 717 area codes. Aside from State Stores and Driver License centers, state gov't offices are few and far between, too.

At least Beaver county seems to have a handle on things through our local, independent health system.

has an online patient portal, you should be able to sign up for the patient portal and get info on that portal for vaccine availability and appointment scheduling. I had to call my PC's practice to find out about this option. I did get an appointment.

Yeah, all that’s done for me is a bunch of cheery emails about how they’re working on it. There are no appointments and there is no waiting list.

A couple of days ago, a Pittsburgh newscast announced that new appointments had just opened up. I frantically went online, found the link, picked a date, filled out FOUR pages of forms, and was informed that no more appointments were available, presumably gone to people who were faster at filling out forms.
