PA election day thread

Statewide elections for open State Supreme Court seat (retiring justice Saylor is an R) and Commonwealth Court (could flip 2 R seats to D) and one seat on Superior Court.

Otherwise, local and municipal elections including mayor of Pittsburgh.

In my township, a contentious school board race is the top draw. My township is very Republican, but interestingly on the ballot were Ds unopposed for two auditor positions. In my precinct, the judge of elections and inspector of elections, positions that normally don't even have candidates who bother to file to run, have unopposed Ds. Presumably Rs will write-in their candidate, but lots of people will just vote for the name on the ballot. I'll count it as a win if all 4 are elected over R write-in candidates.

I mailed my ballot about 3 weeks ago, so I got the heavy lifting done early.

Krasner won the primary, but there is an R opponent and unified FOP opposition to Krasner.

In my township we now have 2 Dem auditors and at least 3 Dem judges of election. In my precint, we have a Dem judge of elections and Inspector of elections.

In the adjoining town, they will have their first Af-Am and woman mayor despite a well-organized write-in campaign by the outgoing mayor who was defeated in the Dem primary. Two Af-Am women were also elected to the city council.

Didn't really have a dog in the hunt because the school board election was a battle among Rs, but the taxophobes appear to have won. Hilarity should now ensure.

which really doesn't surprise me in a low turnout election. The composition of the state supreme did not change with Dems holding their 5-2 majority as the Brobson, the winner, replaced the retiring Saylor, also an R.

I'm personally surprised McLaughlin did as well as she did in Beaver county where I live, losing by just under 4,000 votes.

Lori Dumas overtook her R opponent when all the ballots were counted. Her lead is 17, 000 so there will be an automatic recount (LT .5% difference), but that is unlikely to change the outcome.
