Related: About this forumHere's the status of Philly's new public bathrooms after six weeks
Philly Inquirer link: https://www.inquirer.com/columnists/philly-public-bathroom-phlush-update-20230824.html
When I first reviewed Philadelphias new stand-alone public restroom the Philly Phlush I made it my sworn duty to return in six weeks, and again in six months, to provide status updates on the pilot potty project.
I heard from many who poo-pooed the bathrooms and were certain they wouldnt make it 24 hours in this city and others, like me, who wanted to be optimistic about something Philly needs so much.
On Monday, six weeks after my initial review, I visited the Phlushes currently in operation one at 15th and Arch Streets in Center City and another at Fotterall Square Park in North Philly. I used both without fear, trepidation, or a hazmat suit. Im happy to report that things have not gone down the toilet.
Far from being city dumps, the bathrooms remain clean and everything appears to be on a roll. Both were functioning and those I spoke to were grateful for their presence.

Downtown Pittsburgh is looking at adopting a similar program of safe, clean, FREE public restrooms, so I'm happy to see that Philly's new toilet program is doing well.

(842 posts)1. I agree with this
walking downtown Pitt, yeah you need a public bathroom rather than pretending to be a customer of a restaurant

I would have loved "Wee The People." My vote was for "Dallas Cowboys," though.
I am happy to see they are doing well. It's almost as if Philly is not the foul, fetid, filthy liberal cesspool that some claim it to be.
