Preparations for the 2024 presidential election should be underway in York County, although to what extent is uncertain.
The countys Board of Elections denied The York Dispatchs request to visit the office and interview officials ahead of the Nov. 5 election, a common practice before elections to inform readers about what to expect and how to prepare to vote. A list of emailed questions sent Sept. 17 surrounding election security, procedures for voters to know and any changes in polling places did not get a response from the county.
Voters in York County will have their quadrennial chance to vote for the next president of the United States, with Vice President Kamala Harris on the Democratic ticket facing former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee for the third straight time.
Voters will also pick their congressperson, a U.S. senator for Pennsylvania, state representative and state row officers attorney general, treasurer, auditor general and, for some York countians, a state senate seat in the 31st district, currently held by outgoing Sen. Mike Regan.

(193 posts)I can't read the story, but anything they do is not surprising at all. It is historically ruby red with a lot of evangelicals who assume if you are white, you're on their team. I can believe they would do anything to maintain power and suppress the vote of minorities. It is a completely segregated town. It was a scary place of ignorance, bigotry, and extreme religiosity when I left 20 years ago. I thought I could outrun them. I was pretty naive.

(349 posts)50 year reunion coming up next month and a bit hesitant to go. My school was fairly well integrated though, so not as many Trump humpers as the county schools 😏.

(193 posts)This is my 50th year, but no reunion as far as I know. I can only think you must have gone to York High.

(349 posts)Middle of sophomore year. York High was a major adjustment from my previous rural HS. But it all turned out ok. We made it this far! ☺️
