Haven't received your mail-in ballot? Erie County voters will get them

Erie County voters who have requested but not yet received a mail ballot for the upcoming presidential election should have them in their mailbox by Tuesday, according to county Clerk Karen Chillcott.

Chillcott said the Erie County Voter Registration Office has fielded a barrage of phone calls from voters asking where their ballots are. Some batches of ballots were delayed in being shipped from either the U.S. Postal Service or the mail house the county contracts with, Akron, Ohio-based ElectionIQ.

However, the office is still within the legally required window for mailing ballots. By law, it must begin sending mail ballots no later than this coming Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Chillcott said the Voter Registration Office attempts to have mail ballots shipped to voters within 48 hours of a request. It uses ElectionIQ to handle large batch mailings, but it can and will send ballots directly from the office if necessary. Chillcott said she does not foresee any issue at this time in meeting demands for mail ballots, which voters can request through the Oct. 29 deadline.
