PA Supreme Court Agrees to September Voter ID Hearing

Pennsylvania's Supreme Court agreed today to a swift review of the Commonwealth Court decision upholding the state's voter ID law, thereby rejecting a Corbett administration request to hold off until October.

The court agreed to an expidited review, meaning it will hold hearings in its Philadelphia session from Sept 10-14.

From the session list (see page 4), it looks like the Court scheduled the hearing for September 13, the same day it will hear all of the appeals in the redistricting cases.

Not Black Bloc police-baiting runaway games, but dignified polite I'm-a-citizen-and-I'm-here-to-be-arrested-Officer civil disobedience based on conscience.

Transparent partisan maneuvers to get Republicans elected, depriving society's most vulnerable of their vote, is simply not acceptable.

I refuse to not vote because of a stunt. It is too important. I must just do whatever I have to do to get a ballot, even if I know it is wrong to put this requirement on us.

Maybe, just maybe, this hearing will give some good news---even if it is to delay the implementation for this election.

Somehow, I seriously doubt that the members of the Court have not already decided where they are going to vote on this issue.

I don't expect the court to overturn the law, but there is plenty of evidence that justifies a delay.
