Matt Brown ad brands Raimondo as 'Republican in disguise'

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Democratic governor candidate Matt Brown makes the case that Rhode Islanders are more liberal than their government in a digital ad launched Thursday that describes Gov. Gina Raimondo as “Republican in disguise.”

“Rhode Island needs a governor that represents real Democratic values,” says Kim Kimball, identified by the Brown campaign as a teacher from Warwick. “We don’t need people elected to office that are Republicans in disguise.”

“We’re one of the most Democratic states in the nation, and it’s time we start acting like it,” Brown says to conclude the two-minute ad, which is filled with scenes of Rhode Island neighborhoods and people over a message that corporate greed is undermining them.

The ad — which Brown is running on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter — was made by Means of Production, the Detroit-based agency that made ads for New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and provides “propaganda for the working class,” according to its Twitter bio.
