Famous Rhode Island Foods

Rhode Island-Style Calamari. If you thought fried calamari was already addictive, you haven't tried it Rhode Island-style. ...
Clam Cakes. ...
Stuffies. ...
Rhode Island Clam Chowder. ...
Hot Wieners. ...
Coffee Milk. ...
Pizza Strips. ...
Johnnycakes.

Anything else to add? I'm heading up there Sunday for a day or so (then going further north,) but curious about suggestions.

Thanks

Last time I was at Narragansett, that was my favorite. They're different as you go up the coast. I think they had lobster rolls too but it was a long time ago.

Looking forward to Lobster-ANYTHING, too; going to Portsmouth and Portland!

Living in MD, we always have lots of crab stuff.

I live too far from the coast to eat sea food, we do have trout and salmon, but I hope to go to New England next spring and I plan on having a bit of seafood while I'm there.

Enjoy!

Coffee milk is a drink made by mixing coffee syrup or coffee extract and milk together in a manner similar to chocolate milk.[1] It is the official state drink in Rhode Island.[2]

Awful Awful (a huge milk shake) at Newport Creamery

Fish and Chips at Chelos

Del's Frozen Lemonade

Grew up in RI - lived there for 22 years. Grew up on clam cakes, coffee milk, and wieners!

Coffee syrup is a viscous brown liquid that is essentially concentrated coffee and sugar - its typically added to cold milk. Loved the stuff (company was Autocrat - still may be the company that makes it).

Happy to 'meet' you!

My mother (adopted mother, born in Bridgeport, grew up in Conn, moved & college in Boston suburbs) so New England
big part of her, I heard about Awful Awful; funny my brother liked spoons of coffee in his glass of milk!

Will look for clam cakes, coffee milk, and wieners, prolly stay in Providence, and try Portuguese restaurants.

It's all good here in this unpretentious restaurant...some say "the best in RI". Swipe through first link for food pics.

We also bought potato chips from Salty Brine. To this day my brother and I call a big whole potato chip a Salty Briner.

Whipped Ice milk with whatever flavoring. If you could consume three at one sitting, your name got on the Awful Awful club list. It was ok to consume them and barf... in fact it was difficult not to barf.
