CHARLESTON S.C. (Reuters) – South Carolina congressman Mark Sanford called off his engagement to his Argentine “soul mate,” Maria Belen Chapur, in a lengthy Facebook post on Friday, citing an ongoing lawsuit with his ex-wife.

Last week Jenny Sanford asked a court to her restrict her ex-husband’s access to their youngest son, as well as requiring him to undergo a psychiatric exam and take anger management and parenting classes. The couple divorced in 2010.

Sanford, 54, who served two terms as South Carolina governor, was widely ridiculed when in 2009 he tried to hide his affair with Chapur by falsely saying that he was hiking the Appalachian Trail.

“I cannot do this anymore,” Sanford wrote on Friday.

Possible Presidential candidate possibility. Can you imagine had he somehow became President. I shutter the thought.

on this.

Jenny is constantly having to take Mark to court to abide by the divorce agreement. She pretty much has consistently said, if you want to say anything to me, contact my lawyer. He is trying to keep her in his life anyway he can. The mistress has seen through this and SHE called off the engagement. Mark also blames Jenny for airing their dirty laundry. He is the one that is consistently in the press commenting on his latest perceived injustice.

here is how it works. Their court appearances are public records. The news gets them, and publishes the latest kerfuffle. Jenny says no comment. Mark can't comment enough about them while blaming Jenny for publically airing their dirty laundry.

This letter shows how erratic he is. Is it any wonder she wants him to undergo counseling? He has always been this way and now that Jenny is no longer in love with him, her rose colored glasses are off.

He complains that Jenny will not let him see the kids. Three of them are over 18, she can't stop him. Yet he specifically mentions her not letting him see one of the older ones. I have a feeling they don't want to see him. The youngest one is about 16. He is old enough to voice his opinion if he does/doesn't want to see dear old dad.

The first time the kids met the mistress was in front of cameras on his election night. I am willing to go out on a limb and say they are not to fond of the woman involved with the very nasty and very public breakup of their family.

When Mark made his very public, teary eyed confession, he called Jenny for advice on what to say. When Mark ran for election he asked Jenny to be his campaign manager.

Mark did not think his kids were important enough to spend Fathers Day with them. He does however think it is acceptable to go into Jenny's home when she was not there to spend time with the youngest kid. Against court orders. She caught him in her home at least 4 times, she had to take him to court to get him to stop. he has refused to pay his share of the kids college expenses and her the share of a joint property they owned that was sold.

But you see it is all Jenny's fault for taking him to court. He is the aggrieved one. If she would just leave him alone he would still be with his "soul mate".

I am not a Jenny fan, but it ain't her causing the problems here. This is what is known. I can't imagine the crap he tries to pull that has not made it to court and kept between the 2 of them. Every time there is a court filing it is because HE violated the divorce agreement.

Sanford's post is SUPER DUPER embarrassingly long, so right now this one is cracking me up: Rep. Sanford might want to switch from Facebook to Twitter the next time he feels the need to overshare
