Lawsuit: Roane youth center covered up fraud, sex abuse
When a Roane County youth counselor reported TennCare fraud and sex abuse, she was fired in return, a lawsuit claims.
Vickie Davis worked from March 2015 to March 2016 for Roane Academy in Rockwood, a center operated by Omni Visions that offers housing and treatment to troubled boys age 12-17. Her complaints apparently helped kick off a pair of probes one by the state Department of Children's Services into child abuse and one by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation into potential TennCare fraud.
Davis filed a lawsuit last week seeking $2 million in damages plus double back pay. An Omni Visions spokeswoman said the company hadn't been served Monday.
"While it is our policy not to comment on pending litigation, we will be mounting a vigorous defense against what we consider to be baseless allegations," spokeswoman Jennifer Wigal said in an email.
