IRS employee sues City Hall for 'blacklist' stress
Janelle Macklin, an IRS employee with a federal security clearance, has sued Memphis for the alleged stress from her wrongful addition to a City Hall security watch list.
The Memphis Police Department included her name on a so-called "blacklist" of people requiring a police escort in City Hall because of her involvement in what she described as an "anti-violence" rally at a local Malco theater, she said in her complaint.
Because of the list, Macklin worried about losing her job with the Internal Revenue Service although she didn't to the point where she suffered from "severe anxiety, elevated blood pressure, and other medical conditions" that resulted in her missing some work, according to Macklin's complaint, filed by local attorney Robert Spence.
City spokeswoman Ursula Madden declined to comment on pending litigation.
