To Boost Its Fashion Chops, Belmont University Acquires O'More College Of Design
Belmont University announced a plan Tuesday to merge with the Franklin-based OMore College of Design. This upcoming fall, all OMore students will move to Belmonts campus in Nashville.
The plan will unite the two schools graphic design programs and sees Belmont taking on three others: interior design, fashion design and fashion merchandising. Belmont President Bob Fisher believes the merger comes at a good time, amid Nashvilles burgeoning fashion industry.
Were going to see if we can even grow these programs to make them bigger and stronger over the years," says Fisher. "And we believe Nashville needs fashion merchandising, interior design, fashion design and graphic design.
The idea of the merger has been floated for the past decade, says Fisher. According to Belmont, the university paid no money for OMore but has acquired all the colleges assets and expenses.
