Knox County Commission denounces hate after detective's anti-LGBTQ sermon

The Knox County Commission made quick work Monday night of condemning a hate-filled sermon delivered by an sheriff's detective at a tiny independent Baptist church earlier this month.

So quick, even, that commissioners voted to move it to the front of the agenda.

The vote was unanimous to approve the joint resolution denouncing hate speech after Detective Grayson Fritts preached earlier this month that LGBTQ community members should be executed by the government.

“The County Mayor and the County Commission absolutely and unequivocally denounce, condemn, and reject intimidation, threats and calls for violence or the unlawful abridgment of rights, liberties, privileges or immunities, directed at any citizen or group of citizens for any reason whatsoever,” it states.
