Researchers at Vanderbilt say in the Mid-South, if nothing changes, it will be mid June before we see our COVID-19 peak. That mid June date assumes we keep doing what we are doing when it comes to social distancing. It also says if we distance more, the date will come sooner and put less strain on hospitals. They also say if the stay at home order is lifted, cases will skyrocket.
This is the first time there has been a model that was created specifically for Tennessee. It has very specific Mid-South information.
"We are looking at Tennessee data specifically and making sure we are applying it correctly," said Melissa McPheeters, Vanderbilt researcher.

(59,303 posts)that is only if people continue to stay home.
I doubt their model accounts for all the weak minded, egocentric fools who will gather en masse for Easter. Boggles the mind.

I think they are just in denial or completely unimformed.
We have a neighbor whose elderly AA dad lives a couple of doors down. His dad has serious underlying health issues & rarely leaves his house, but his son is still going to work & he walks to his dad's daily to spend time with him.
I chatted him up yesterday on his way over & informed him how deadly this disease is, esp for elderly AA males with obesity & other relevant health concerns & that he should have dad come out on porch & chat with dad from a distance because "you never know who has this at work," (feeding him back his own words to me a couple of days ago). I told him how sudden heart attacks are now being reported, too, a factor of considerstion for his dad.
We have some great chats & get along extremely well. I explained I read about this all day every day & I realize he prob doesn't have time...
He was so taken aback by the facts I shared that he was loiking at me as if I were a space alien or something.
People just don't read anymore & media is failing the country yet again!
