On May 14, when the former site of The Commercial Appeal opens as an alternate-care facility for COVID-19 patients, those who require intensive care will be housed on the third floor, in what used to be the sunlit newsroom.
An army of people some 500 are working in shifts around the clock to turn the old newspaper building into a hospital large enough to accommodate 400 patients.
The project is about 26% finished, said Jim Pogue, spokesman for the Corps Memphis district. A tremendous amount of drywall is going up. Its a beehive of activity. It is really something to see.
Obviously, this is not being built on a whim. And Gov Lee is reopening the state??. 🤬🤬🤬
