Columbia-based Confederate group flies flag again ... in Bristol
The Sons of Confederate Veterans say they plan to arrange more flyovers at NASCAR events this summer, if they find donors for the stunts.
The Columbia-based group was responsible for a flyover Wednesday night at Bristol Motor Speedway, a spokesperson told The Daily Herald on Thursday, after a similar tactic June 21 in Talladega, Ala.
It was the same flag we used in Talladega, Sons of Confederate Veterans Commander in Chief Paul C. Gramling Jr. said. It was just a different message. Last time, it was, DEFUND NASCAR, in all capital letters. This time, it was our website, SCV.org., for informational purposes.
We wanted anyone who saw that to go to the website, he added. If they want to know more about us or contribute to another flyover somewhere down the road, they would know who is doing this. They would know how to contact us. Last time, a lot of people reacted by saying, Thats great, but who did it? Well, we did it and want folks to know.
