The announcement was made on his Facebook page early Monday morning.
With a deep sense of sadness and loss, we announce the passing of Mayor Lonnie Norman after being hospitalized for COVID-19 on October 1, 2020. Mayor Norman passed away in the early hours of Monday, October 12, 2020, after a valiant fight against COVID-19.
In August, Norman was reelected for his third term as mayor.
As of Sunday, 2,767 Tennesseans have lost their lives from COVID-19."

I had to look it up on the map, I saw Manchester and immediately thought of Manchester United (soccer). But the location of this city (town) is not so far from Knoxville, where I spend time.
Looks like this mayor was a kind soul, indeed. How sad for this treasure to be taken from us too soon by the pandemic. thanks for the post, Tanuki.
