Memphians to vote on gun control measures on November ballot

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis leaders are asking voters to approve or reject three gun control measures on the November ballot. The Memphis City Council approved the referendum in a 10-0 vote on Tuesday.

The referendum was originally set to appear on the August ballot, but the election commission said its wording needed correction.

On Tuesday, the Memphis City Council voted to move the referendum from August to November.

The first measure asks voters whether or not the City of Memphis Charter should be amended so that no person can legally carry, store or travel with a handgun without a valid carry permit.
