Case continued for Boy Scout treasurer accused of stealing from Germantown troop
A former Boy Scout troop leader accused of stealing more than $95,000 from the troop is scheduled to appear in Germantown Municipal Court April 12 after his case was continued for a second time Wednesday evening.
David Cline, a former troop treasurer, was charged with theft of property after allegedly taking the money from Troop 368 over the course of five years. He was scheduled originally to appear in court Feb. 22, but the case was continued until Wednesday. Cline was not in court Wednesday evening as the case was continued a second time.
A Germantown police affidavit said scout officials suspected Cline was stealing from the troop's bank account.
Cline, who was arrested in November, was the only person with access to the account, the affidavit said. He came under suspicion last June, according to the affidavit, when a check for $13,315 could not be cashed by the troop because there was only $7,612.92 in the account at the time. Scout officials said there should have been enough to cover the check.
