Related: About this forumDan Patrick wants Texas version of Florida law that critics dubbed "Don't Say Gay"
Again, there is a contest between Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick to try and match any laws adopted by Florida that will punish or hurt LGBTQ youths. Abbott and DeathSantis are competing for the title of the nastiest homophobe, and each are searching for ways to use the power of the state to punish LGBTQ children in general and trans children in particular. The GOP homophobes are now looking at adoption Florida's "don't say gay" law.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Monday he will prioritize passing Texas legislation that mimics the recently signed Florida bill referred to as the Dont Say Gay law.
That states controversial law prohibits classroom lessons on sexual orientation or gender identity for kids below the fourth grade or any instruction that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for older students. It has come under heavy scrutiny as opponents of the bill say it will harm LGBTQ children.
While Texas next legislative session doesnt start until January, the issue will be addressed in Education Committee hearings before then, Patrick said in a campaign email.
I will make this law a top priority in the next session, he said.
Patricks office did not immediately respond to a request late Monday.
Enforcing Floridas law falls to parents, much like Texas restrictive abortion law, Senate Bill 8, which empowers private citizens to sue anyone who aids or abets an abortion after about six weeks of pregnancy.

Stealing the Floridia "don't say gay" law is only fair since Florida is going to steal the Texas policy of classifying gender transition care for trans youth as child abuse. See https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216563631
DeathSantis and Abbott are disgusting human beings who are competing to replace TFG. Part of this competition is trying to be the most disgusting homophobe.

In the political peeing contest between Florida Gov. Rick DeSantis and the equally mature Republicans of Texas, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is taking aim at a favorite target: LGBTQ children. Patrick, who has previously attempted to ostracize transgender youths who play sports, trans adults who use public restrooms and parents who seek gender-affirming care for their trans children, broadened his assault this week, announcing hell seek a Florida-style Dont Say Gay law in Texas. I will make this law a top priority in the next session, Patrick, a former shock jock, said in a campaign email. Floridas law blocking lessons about sexual orientation and gender identity to public school students younger than fourth grade has already drawn litigation from groups that say it marginalizes gay people and violates constitutional rights of free speech, equal protection and due process. But apparently what really matters is that the popular and corporate backlash against Floridas bill offends Patricks sensibilities. I AM DONE WITH DISNEY! Patrick declared after the company vowed to help repeal the law. Ah, we can hear Patrick now: Do you want to build a straw-man? Hell, no. As for the castigated Disney executives, were sure theyre coping well, having just let it go or merely resolved we dont talk about Bruno. Alas, we Texans dont have that luxury.
