Texas Gov. Greg Abbott still leads Beto O'Rourke in governor's race, poll shows

AUSTIN — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott still leads Democrat Beto O’Rourke by 7 percentage points, 46-39, in this year’s race, according to a Dallas Morning News-University of Texas at Tyler poll released Sunday.

That’s essentially unchanged from the incumbent’s 45-38 lead over O’Rourke in February.

On the eve of the start of early voting in the May 24 primary runoffs, Attorney General Ken Paxton leads fellow Republican and state Land Commissioner George P. Bush, 41-35.

On the Democratic side, former ACLU lawyer Rochelle Garza of Brownsville leads former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski for the party’s attorney general nomination, 35-20.

I gave and will. Realize there are many needs. We must not give up on him or decide preemptively that he will not prevail.

Especially when the other choice is Beto - who has energy, ideas and is devoted to making the lives of Texans better...

I wouldn't vote for that pos if his name was the only one on the ballot. I'd rather write in something silly like "Scooby-Doo" or "Minnie Mouse."

project all your faults onto your opponent. If you haven't noticed a large fraction of the Republican party believes Democrats are the spawn of Satan himself. They would never check that box. Best you can hope for is they are so disgusted with their candidate they leave them blank (and don't register a vote).

I'm amazed at how many Democrats still believe that if they help their opponent, their opponent may change their minds a love them. Now maybe some will but the vast majority have been trained to believe the worst about the Democratic party. Give them something and they think you're stealing from them.
