Why are they so afraid to debate Democrats? Do they think Democrats will make them look like the monsters they are? What are they trying to hide from voters? That they want to do away with social security and Medicare and Medicaid. They want the rich to get even more tax breaks. They want to make abortion illegal nation wide.

Just running late shows a lack of respect for others' time. But not even bothering to show up means you don't think the people are worth your time and attention at all.

I'm sure Greg Abbott just thought he was demonstrating that it was only Beto who was not worth his time. But he just gave that entire community of voters the middle finger.

Is it arrogance ("I've got this in the bag" )? Is it playing to his base ("See, I don't even give the Democrat the time of day" )? Being a prick just seems to be part of the Republican playbook anymore.

Texas needs Beto, and I hope enough of them realize that truth and make it happen.

Abbott looks like the coward he is for not showing up. It's clear he didn't want to answer questions from his constituents. I hope the voters are paying attention.

One hour long on a Friday night in Texas. Gee, wonder why he insisted on a Friday night?

Both candidates had been invited to appear for three debates; only Beto accepted the other two. I'm glad that this one went on without Abbott.
