Our district canceled sex ed classes but is now required to offer kids training in bleeding control

Kevin M. Kruse Retweeted

In case you're wondering how things are going in Texas, our district canceled all sex ed classes this year but is now required to offer kids training in bleeding control techniques, including "tourniquets approved for use in battlefield trauma care by the armed forces."

Our district is offering the training right now for middle schoolers and up but looks like the Texas bill is amending it to 3rd graders and up.

But telling 10 yr old girls about menstruation, how babies are made, STDs, etc -- eh not so much.

And this is from the same "Abbott and associates" whose solution for gun violence in schools after the Uvalde incident was to send DNA testing kits to parents. I won't comment any further as I am trying to minimize my profanity....

The bullet is made to tumble after it strikes somebody causing massive trauma to the
victim. It can all but blow your leg off with one round.

This is madness pure madness.

The idea that .223 bullets “tumble” any more or any less than other bullets is simply an old wives tale. They don’t tumble.

They do, however, make massive wounds that can cause severe damage. It’s from the energy, not the tumble.

History of the false notion that .223 (5.56mm) bullets “tumble”

There is no way on Earth that a 9 year old should be subjected to this subject matter. It was tough enough as a grown adult and presented in the situation such as an automobile collision with injuries.

Having said that, the course rates up there with CPR training. I bought one of the kits and it's in my car.

ETA: Texas already has a stop the bleed requirement in schools, but for adults and OFFERED to 7th graders.

Is a perfect one sentence depiction of where the Republican Party is today.
I think most voters are less concerned with sex than they are with murdered children.

lost their minds requiring a 3rd grader to take this. They should have to get permission from the parents and the child. I am sure they would have to get permission from parent on sex education and same should go for this.

1. GREG ABBOTT IS A SICK FUCK!
2. Every Republican in the TX statehouse and other branches of the TX state government is a SICK FUCK.
3. Everyone involved in deciding that teaching children how to stop massive bleeding is an appropriate response to school shootings is a PROFOUNDLY SICK FUCK.
4. Greg Abbott is THE SICKEST FUCK OF ALL THE SICK FUCKS IN TEXAS.
