The Republican Party Of Texas' Unabashed Embrace Of Nazism And White Supremacy

The Texas GOP has chosen the path of upholding bigotry and discrimination.

Over the weekend, the Republican Party of Texas’ SREC (State Republican Executive Committee) had its quarterly meeting in Corpus Christi. Coincidently, the Texas Democratic Party’s SDEC (State Democratic Executive Committee) also had quarterly meetings. I watched both, and before I get into what came out of the GOP meeting, I want to highlight the stark differences between these two events.

The SDEC meeting is almost always in person and open to the public. Since Covid, it has rarely been on Zoom. But because of the holidays, the Texas Democratic Party decided to hold the meeting on Zoom this time, and I’m glad they did. The participants were white, Black, brown, young, and old. The diversity of that meeting looked like the Texas we all know and love.

The GOP’s SREC meeting, which they always post live and online each quarter, was basically a bunch of old white people.

It’s incredibly stunning knowing that white people are now a minority in Texas, and it proves that the GOP does not represent the majority of Texans.
