I just got home from the Texas Democratic Women State Convention in Austin
It was as always a great weekend. Spending a weekend with Democratic Women from all over Texas is so much fun. I have been going to these things for maybe 14 years (and have the tote bags to prove it) and have made so many friends. It's like a mini reunion. There were a number of candidates as well.
At lunch, we had one of those "conversation" speaker deals where 2 people switch back and forth on the topic. Which was women's health care.
The presentation was given by Shellie Hayes-McMahon and Hon Wendy Davis both with Planned Parenthood Texas Votes. It was (as one would expect)a terrific presentation.
It was good to see Wendy! She was my State Senator before she ran for Governor; I went to many fundraisers for her back in the day. We still miss her.
Our banquet speaker was very strange. I did not hear much of it because I was wrapping up the Silent Auction but we kept saying "Who is she and is she ever going to stop talking" It was kind of a depressing speech and she wasn't that great a speaker.
