I'm done

Done, done, done. DONE!

Between Abbott, Patrick, Trump, Cannon - I am DONE.

I am looking for homes in Mexico. I’ve lived in the third world and understand how to live there.

Now - all I have to do is convince DH it has been my lifelong dream to vacation in Merida or San Miguel de Allende. 😈

We can just “happen” to stumble across a really nice house or two.😉

I’m really not kidding. But I have 200 postcards coming to send in support of Uncle Joe.
Guess I will contact my local Dems and sign up for text bank even tho I hate getting them.🤣

What’s an ole hippie gal supposed to do?

I went to art school in San Mieguel in the 70s and have been back several times. It is beautiful and hospitable. Lots of expats.

it is a mecca for nomads. That place has not changed for centuries and is truly laid back, out of the grind. It welcomes nomads with its rustic way of life, is safe, pristine, and almost like traveling to another century.
Portugal, on the continent, has many similar villages along the coast. The weather can be overcast and windy often along or in the deep Atlantic but there are no tough winters.

He prepped for it for years and was back in the states in a few months.

A permanent vacation sounds a lot better than what he had in mind.

I can relate, also being in Texas. I guess we just stay and fight, for the most part. Thanks for doing your part and more than most. Doing what I can, as well.

Some day, the demographics will help get us there, but we also need to fix that persistent, annoying turnout problem we have.

Folks outside Texas don’t really understand how soul killing it is to live here sometimes.

When Beto lost - I stopped volunteering. I stopped everything and gave up.

Two things put me over the edge

Trump stopping SS TWICE with fist in air yelling fight. The MAGA blaming MSNBC for stoking violence.

Cannon - just sitting there lalala until Thomas gave her an out. Boy she really wants a Supreme Court appt. She fails to see Trump is a user. 😬

I try to tune most of it out, but it's admittedly not easy.

The right blaming political violence on the left is laughable, of course. Projection is about the only thing they have left, outside of fear. All so predictable.

For those around Trump, I think they know exactly what he is, but they think it's worth the risk for personal gain. Works for some. Others get disbarred, go to prison, and so on. Quite the coin flip.

Cannon didn't need the out from Thomas, in my opinion. I think she delayed as long as she could, and it's now more about timing -- right before the convention and the VP pick.

I fully understand, though. It's all very discouraging. All we can do now is try to affect the outcome in November. Turnout was always the only realistic solution. I just hope it's enough.

I am now actively seeking transfers to France by the fall, and plan to leave before Trump is returned to office if at all possible.

I have no intention of seeking dual citizenship either. If I am able to secure employment and can make the move, I am gone. This will be a complete emigration and renouncing of the United States as well. I am embarrassed to be American with its current connotation and meaning. I am also advising both of my sons - age 21 and 19 - that leaving the country and settling in Mexico or Canada or following me to Europe would be advisable to avoid conscription into Trump's coming Reich. They are legally adults and must make their own decisions, but if they stay, they will be sacrificed to the altar of greed and monstrosity that is what's left here.

We almost lasted 250 years...almost.
Just not quite.

The actions by Aileen Cannon this morning make it certain that this nation is dead, we WERE to be a nation of LAWS not MEN...we ARE a shit hole of unworthy men in power, corruption, graft and fraud - and there is no reason to stay any longer.

Viva la France.

Remember NYS is more than NYC. There are lots of smaller towns and exurbs. If you want natural beauty, you might like the Finger Lakes area.

Edited to add: Colorado is beautiful but I would be concerned about water supply. That is not an issue in NYS.

NYS is gorgeous, and has great protections (especially for LGBTQ folks). But some areas are...reddish. Check congressional maps, if you're thinking of buying.

I have some friends that moved to Costa Rica after they came into some unexpected money from winning the lottery. I talked to them recently. While they have a big home, it really didn't cost all that much. My husband and I could probably afford to move there.

Our home in South America cost us $900/month. A married couple were maid and gardener and cost us an additional $150 month plus their room and board. They were fabulous.

Post cards sound great, really good idea. Phone banking and door knocking are other things you can consider. There's even being a poll watcher. Talking to everyone about why to vote for Biden and what a danger tcf is to our democracy is #1.
