Gov. Abbott orders Texas hospitals to gather information on healthcare costs incurred by migrants

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Texas Governor Greg Abbott just issued an executive order calling for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to start collecting information on the cost of healthcare incurred by migrants who entered the US illegally.

"HHSC will also be required to report annually to the Governor and Texas Legislature all inpatient and emergency care costs for illegal immigrants so the State of Texas can seek reimbursement from the federal government," a spokesperson for the governor's office explained Thursday.

What a mean little toad our Governor is.

for all Repubs in elected offices who profess Christianity as their religion....
When Jesus healed the sick, how much did he charge them?
And how many did he refuse to heal due to a preexisting condition?
Just curious...

Undocumented immigrants contribute tens of billions of dollars in federal, state and local taxes each year.

Discussions of immigrants and public benefits often overlook the significant tax contributions made by undocumented immigrants. According to research conducted by New American Economy, in 2018 undocumented immigrants contributed $20.1 billion in federal taxes and $11.8 billion in state and local taxes.

The tax contributions of undocumented immigrants are critical to the viability of public health programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Between 2000 and 2011, undocumented immigrants generated a $35.1 billion surplus in the Medicare Trust Fund. States that expend the most in emergency medical care for undocumented immigrants (California, Texas, and New York) all also receive over $1 billion in state and local tax contributions from undocumented immigrants each year.

The Gov of Texas once again, like every Republican, distorts or lies about everything. Shame on my fellow Texans for supporting the POS.

If people don’t get help, it doesn’t mean they are trying to heal at home. Many go to work very ill and that spreads to all around them. It’s a butterfly effect.

It also hurts children. Forcing people to operate out of fear seems like it works, but it often doesn’t. Like a waterbed, when you press down thinking you have flattened the mattress, it only ends up popping something else up.
