Here's why Dallas County wants to purchase curbside election carts
DALLAS COUNTY, Texas The Dallas County Commissioners Court will consider approving the purchase of hundreds of curbside voting carts during its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday.
These carts would be used at curbside or entrances of polling places for voters physically unable to enter the building without help or with a likelihood of injury, the item on the commissioners' court agenda says.
If approved, the county would buy 550 of the carts for the elections department. It would cost the county about $1.26 million. The funds for the purchase were included in the county's proposed budget for this fiscal year.
The carts are designed to withstand all weather conditions, the item states, provide protection from rain, and can be moved over various kinds of terrain without tipping over. They can also be moved to vehicles for access.
