Federal court rules TX "canvassing restriction" violates law, blocks key provision

On Sept. 28, 2024, the district court struck down a provision of the law that makes it a felony to assist voters with their absentee ballots as unconstitutional. Now, pro-voting and civil rights groups in Texas cannot be criminally charged for their vote by mail assistance efforts.
