Blankenship defends seat against Cochran in upcoming election
There will be one seat up for grabs in the upcoming election for the Bell County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 board of directors.
Challenger Camron Cochran is running against incumbent Sandra Blankenship for one of the Killeen seats on the water board, which oversees the drinking water that is sold to Killeen and other area cities. The election is Nov. 5.
Blankenship was elected in 2020 when she defeated incumbent and former President Robert Jacobs for the Precinct 2 seat. Blankenship, a retired nurse, ran for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives in 2016, when she lost out on the District 54 seat by about 6% of the vote.
Cochran is known for his political activity around Killeen City Hall and regularly attends Killeen City Council meetings. Cochran attempted to join the council in last Mays election, but his bid fell short in a loaded eight-person race, gaining 7.1% of the vote.
