One trustee position, three school district bond elections on May ballot

Of five school districts with expiring terms in 2026, only one seat is contested, while three bond elections are on the ballot. Residents of Grapeland, Elkhart and Oakwood will vote on bond issues in their districts, while Grapeland voters will also decide a school board seat.

Grapeland ISD

Grapeland school board’s Position 1 seat is held by incumbent Travis Brown, and is challenged by Ryan Pennington. T.C. Howard, the Position 2 incumbent, is unopposed.

Early voting is at the Grapeland Independent School District Administration Office, April 20 to 28, at 116 W. Myrtle Street. Regular voting on May 2 takes place at the Grapeland City Office at 202 Main Street.
