The Woodlands construction company wins $66 million bid for airport project

A subsidiary of Sterling Construction Company, Inc., the publicly traded civil construction company based in The Woodlands, is the selected bidder for part of a redevelopment project at Salt Lake City International Airport.

Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Co., has been awarded the $66 million bid for a 2,000-foot bridge that will tie in to an elevated roadway to the airport's terminal, concourse, parking structure and gateway buildings.

The bridge will consist of 100,000 feet of steel piling, a 40,000-square-foot retaining wall and will require the excavation of 125,000 cubic yards of earth, according to a statement from Sterling.

Construction is scheduled to begin in March and be complete in 2019.
