Back in 1983, The Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) was founded around a kitchen table by a small group of people who loved Utahs redrock wilderness and wanted to protect the best of it. They laid the foundation for an organization a movement really out of passion for one of the most amazing landscapes on earth.
Today, 30 years later, SUWA is stronger than ever owing to the contributions of tens of thousands of people who share a love for this remarkable landscape. Our goal is to permanently protect over 9 million acres of redrock wilderness, and with the help of many, weve managed to keep 99 percent of these lands safe.
In celebration of thirty years of success, were hosting a gala celebration at 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Utah Museum of Natural Historys Canyon Atrium. The theme of the night is Redrock and Pearls (as pearls are the symbol of a 30 year anniversary.)-
I'll be there, I hope some of you can make it as well. SUWA is a wonderful and very important organization.

It was simply one of the most beautiful and wonderful landscapes I've ever seen. I didn't expect to fall in love with the red rock, but I did and hope that I can come to hike there many more times. I can't even yet put into words how I felt out there.
It was a gift to see what I saw - had no idea it would be so cool! Will google SUWA to learn more but thank goodness some far seeing visionaries worked so hard to preserve such a magnificant part of America!

but was in the area a few years ago on a cycle trip, had been decades prior to that... love that place!
Thanks for the 30 years of work!! I know I'll be back someday and I will, once again, be saying my thanks with every blinks of my eyes.
