Washington Sen. Orrin Hatch on Friday walked back comments he made earlier this week defending President Donald Trump of allegations he was tied in court documents to charges against Trumps former lawyer, Michael Cohen.
After Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison and court papers showed Cohen identified Individual 1 Trump as directing his actions, Hatch essentially shrugged it off saying Trump is a good president and the economy is doing well.
"The Democrats will do anything to hurt this president," he told CNN. "What happened before he was elected president is one thing, but since hes been elected the economys done well, our country is moving ahead. Were in better shape than when we were before he became president. And I think we ought to judge him on that basis."
After CNNs Manu Raju pointed out it wasnt Democrats, but federal prosecutors making the allegations about Trump, Hatch responded, "I dont care, all I can say is hes doing a good job as president.

When asked about whether he thought that Sen. Hatch's regrets were sincere, TexasTowelie responded, "I don't care."

(1,159 posts)Cant be. Orrin Hatch was one of the ringleaders of the investigation of the Clintons pre-presidency WhiteWater investments. When the investigation kept coming up with goose eggs it was extended and expanded until Republicans discovered a blow job which they then celebrated in the form of the Starr Report.
So tell me, are there TWO Orrin Hatches, or is it the same slimy, unethical, immoral, hypocritical slug who has been in the Senate for about 300 years?
