Rutland's not bad. It is kind of a gritty town, blue collar roots, at one time it allegedly had the most bars per capita of any town. it has a small downtown with lots of sprawl otherwise. I can't figure out if it's a town on the way up or the way down. What do you do? Or what do you want to do? I live in White River Junction, VT (near Dartmouth College). Cost of living is higher around here but opportunities might be better. Burlington and its environs are also nice. Montpelier is smaller than either Burlington or Rutland, but is seems to be a vibrant community.

so getting a job is not why I am moving...but it seems the most affordable town in Vermont?
