(Lawsuits as a campaign tool)
I don't recall hearing anything from him in late 2019 when a vote was made to move the statue from Main street.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- One statue removal could now result in a potential lawsuit.
Philip Hamilton, the Republican running for the 57th District seat in the House of Delegates, announced he intends to sue the Charlottesville City Council.
He claims the council did not follow the correct legal procedures to take down the Lewis and Clark statue.
Hamilton, a self-proclaimed historian and the first Republican in 16 years to run for the district seat, says his goal is to get that statue back in place. He wants to hold council members, who are drunk on power, accountable."
"They knew they wouldn't get the same level of support with that monument as they did with the General Lee and the General Jackson monuments," he said. "So they just rammed it through. They said the equipment is already here, let's get it over with and that's just now how city government should work."
