GLEN ALLEN, Va. (AP) Democrats and Republicans were locked in a battle for control of the Virginia House of Delegates on Wednesday, with a handful of competitive races still too early to call.
Democrats held a 55-45 majority heading into Tuesdays election, but Republicans waged an aggressive campaign to flip up to 13 seats held by Democrats whom they considered vulnerable. The GOP needs to flip at least six seats to regain the majority the party lost in 2019.
House Republican Leader Todd Gilbert issued a statement early Wednesday, saying Republicans have clearly won six seats previously held by Democrats, giving Republicans the majority. Four of the six seats Gilbert cited had not been called by The Associated Press as of early Wednesday.

(97 posts)Too bad, but didnt the Democrats retain the Senate majority? If so, agitate, agitate, agitate
Do not pass any trump related bill, no passage of any new voting bills, abortion bills, etc..
You may have lost some leadership positions, but the most important control is the senate.
Think of how things would be different if the democrats held the senate during trumps term
.
No Comey, no Kavenaugh, etc.
Keep your head, get the democrats who didnt vote, up and out.

However - I wouldn't consider the senate to be absolutely safe. A single party-switcher would pass control to the Republicans and last night gives them a little leverage since the (red) state supreme court is about to redraw all of the district lines.

Yes... the redistricting commission is pretty strong (meaning likely to control) IF they draw lines that the commission can get consensus on.
However - if consensus cannot be reached (effectively meaning that both parties agreed), then the process gets kicked automatically to the state supreme court.
Note - this has already occurred for this cycle. The supremes don't need to override anything.
Sucks.
