Puget Sound Recovery hosts press conference to reflect on restoration efforts
On January 23, Congressman Kilmer and Congresswoman Strickland will host a press conference to highlight their restoration and protection efforts for the Puget Sound. The conference will take place in the beach area of Titlow Park, from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
The Puget Sound Recovery Caucus was founded in 2013 to prevent pollution, protect habitats and re-open shellfish beds in the Sound, according to Kilmers website.
As Co-Chair of the Puget Sound Recovery Caucus, protecting the Sound has been one of my top priorities, Rep. Strickland said in December after the PUGET SOS Act passed the House and Senate. Puget Sound is a key natural resource for the South Sound and the entire state, accounting for hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions in economic impact. This critical legislation elevates Puget Sound to its rightful place as one of our nations great marine ecosystems while enhancing our regions ability to honor tribal treaty rights, revitalize our economy, and restore our Sound.
Rep. Kilmer and Rep. Strickland will be joined by Laura Blackmore, the Puget Sound Partnership Executive Director, to talk about the positive impact their legislation has had.
