Waterfront reopening ceremony, preview event to be held Monday

An opening event for the newly constructed Elliott Way along the Seattle waterfront will be held Monday afternoon.

Waterfront Seattle said the newly constructed roadway between Pine and Bell streets will serve as the connection between the Seattle waterfront and Belltown in the footprint of the former Alaskan Way Viaduct.

The city of Seattle’s Office of the Waterfront and Civic Projects and Friends of Waterfront Seattle plan to celebrate with an unveiling of the new honorary street name of Dzidzilalich, which was selected to honor the long tribal history on the waterfront.

The celebration event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday.
