Washington state parks surpasses 40 million visits

State parks in Washington are blooming and booming.

The 172 state parks in Washington welcomed 40.6 million visitors last year, continuing a demand thrust introduced by the pandemic.

According to Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission data shared with the Business Journal, visitations were up 6% in 2022 compared to 2019. (The visitation report is scheduled for public release this summer.)

Deception Pass State Park remained the most visited park in 2022. It was one of five parks with over a million visitors. In 2019, eight individual state parks raked in 1 million or more visits.
