Seattle Children's laying off 135 workers in 'management restructure'
Seattle Children's is laying off 1.5% of its staff, joining a list of Puget Sound-area health care providers that have cut jobs in recent months.
The Seattle-based health system is eliminating about 135 roles in a "management restructure," a spokesperson told the Business Journal, as health systems nationwide continue to report financial losses stemming from high operating costs and stagnant revenues.
Like many of our healthcare peers locally and across the country Seattle Childrens is facing the financial impacts from the pandemic, inflation and economic uncertainty," Seattle Children's said in a statement. "These changes will help secure our future to protect our highest priority delivering equitable, safe, compassionate care to children and families who need us.
Founded in 1907, Seattle Children's employs about 9,600 workers. Those affected by the layoffs will receive severance pay, the spokesperson said.
