Kitsap Transit resumes first phase of Sunday bus service restoration
Kitsap Transit will resume Sunday bus service on a Bremerton-Silverdale route this coming weekend, Sept. 24, the agency announced, part of a plan to phase service back across Kitsap County for the first time in more than a decade.
The Bremerton-Silverdale East route, number 217, will resume at 8 a.m. from the Silverdale Transit Center, with stops at the Wheaton Way Transit Center, 15th and Warren, and the Bremerton Transit Center at the ferry terminal. Buses are scheduled to leave Silverdale every 30 minutes, with the last departure of the day at 4 p.m.
Sunday service in Port Orchard and from Silverdale to Poulsbo is expected to return before the end of the year, according to Kitsap Transit, and service to Bainbridge Island in early 2024. The agency had cut service in 2009, during the Great Recession when sales tax revenues dropped.
Kitsap Transit's on-demand service will also operate on Sundays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., for pickup locations within a quarter mile of bus route 217. Visit www.kitsaptransit.com or call 360-373-2877 for more information.
