Substation to support 'increased' deputy presence south of Everett

EVERETT — A new sheriff’s “substation” in Mariner Square will support an increased presence of sheriff’s deputies just south of Everett, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The workstation will be located on the corner of 128th Street SW and 4th Avenue W, allowing for an “increased law enforcement presence” for the west side of the I-5 corridor, spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said.

“We have listened to local business owners and area residents, and together we have developed strategies to increase police presence, reduce criminal activity and ensure our community is safe,” Sheriff Adam Fortney said. “This new substation would not be possible without our business community and the relationships we’ve developed.”

The cost of the new substation wasn’t noted in a press release this week.
