Latest results indicate new Seattle City Council will be more centrist

With the certification of election results still two weeks away, more moderate candidates have prevailed in the settled races in the Seattle City Council election where public safety took center stage.

After Friday's count, three races remain up in the air, with incumbents Tammy Morales and Dan Strauss taking leads over respective business-backed challengers, Tanya Woo and Pete Hanning.

The more progressive Ron Davis has shrunk the lead of city hall deputy director Maritza Rivera to 1.5 percentage points, after being down by 11 points on election night.

Vote counting will continue this week with certification of the vote scheduled for Nov. 28.
