New name, new Seattle home for KCTS 9 TV and Crosscut

Cascade PBS last week marked the grand opening of its new home on Seattle's First Hill.

It's a key moment for both Cascade PBS, which is the new unified name for nonprofit media outlets KCTS 9 TV and Crosscut.com.

KCTS began broadcasting nearly 70 years ago and operated at 401 Mercer St. in the city-owned Seattle Center for 40 years before moving to 316 Broadway on First Hill in January. In 2015, nonprofit investigative news site Crosscut was brought into the KCTS family.

The new home puts Cascade PBS "squarely in the heart of the city," Rob Dunlop, the group's president and CEO, said in a news release.
